Arrived at 10:30am for Boston's St. Patricks' Day Parade

via MBTA's Commuter Rail to North Station. Took an ORange and Red subway trip to the Broadway stop. Walked up stairs into "Southie",

The South End of Boston.

Up from the Broadway T stop and the first bar in site is the famous Amrhein's Family Dining

Visions of downing some green beers before the parade are smashed finding out all Southie bars in the area are charging a $20 ENTRY FEE!

Mul's Diner is open with a line out in front!

A Southie favorite for crème brûlée French toast, bottomless cups of joe & a classic, retro vibe. I tried the creme brulee which was a burnt pudding layer atop the french toast and it was delicious... just like candy! Made the mistake of putting syrup on it though!

No need for that!

The parade was not set to start until 1pm in the afternoon so the meal could be savored longer than usual. The place was packed and we were eventually ejected from our seats. This is a cash only establishment.

Lined up just down the street from Mul's Diner at 45 W. Broadway Street against a barricade an hour before the parade. Front row standing. A giant church stood behind us. Research proved that to be wrong.

A reporter from the local PBS station WBUR walked up to me and started asking questions about why I was there today. I told him I lived in Salem for 9 years and always watched the parade on TV.

This year is my first Saint Patrick's Day Parade!
